Hadith 2254
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "The treasure of any one of you (for which zakat was not paid) will become a bald snake with two black spots on the Day of Resurrection and will pursue the owner of the treasure, while the owner will seek refuge from it. Then it will keep following him and he will keep running away from it until the snake bites his finger." In the narration of Janab Rabi', these words are not mentioned: "and he will keep running away from the snake." And these words are mentioned: "The treasure of any one of you."
Hadith 2255
Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever leaves behind a treasure (for which zakat was not paid), then on the Day of Resurrection it will become a bald snake for him, with two black spots over its eyes. That snake will chase him, and he will ask, 'Woe to you! Who are you?' It will reply, 'I am your treasure which you left behind (after your death).' Then it will keep chasing him until it puts its hand in his mouth and chews him, and then it will chew his entire body."
