Hadith 2236
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا اعْتَكَفَ طُرِحَ لَهُ فِرَاشُهُ ، أَوْ وُضِعَ لَهُ سَرِيرُهُ وَرَاءَ أُسْطُوَانَةِ التَّوْبَةِ " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : أُسْطُوَانَةُ التَّوْبَةِ هِيَ الَّتِي شَدَّ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُنْذِرِ عَلَيْهَا وَهِيَ عَلَى غَيْرِ الْقِبْلَةِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that when he intended to perform i'tikaf, his bed or his cot would be laid behind the Pillar of Repentance. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Pillar of Repentance is the one to which Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah bin Abd al-Mundhir (may Allah be pleased with him) had tied himself, and it is in the direction opposite to the noble qiblah.
