Hadith 2233
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتِ حُيَيٍّ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُعْتَكِفًا فَأَتَيْتُهُ أَزُورُهُ لَيْلا ، فَحَدَّثْتُهُ ، ثُمَّ قُمْتُ ، فَانْقَلَبْتُ ، فَقَامَ لِيَقْلِبَنِي ، وَكَانَ مَسْكَنُهَا فِي دَارِ أُسَامَةَ ، فَمَرَّ رَجُلانِ مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْرَعَا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَى رِسْلِكُمَا ، إِنَّهَا صَفِيَّةُ بِنْتُ حُيَيٍّ " . فَقَالا : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : " إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَجْرِي مِنَ الإِنْسَانِ مَجْرَى الدَّمِ ، وَإِنِّي خَشِيتُ أَنْ يَقْذِفَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمَا شَرًّا " ، أَوْ قَالَ : " شَيْئًا "
Lady Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was observing i'tikaf, so I came to meet him at night and spoke with him. Then, when I got up to return, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to see me off, and Lady Safiyyah's (may Allah be pleased with her) house was in the neighborhood of Sayyidina Usamah (may Allah be pleased with him). During this, two Ansari companions passed by, and when they saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), they hurried ahead. So the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Both of you, walk calmly; she is Safiyyah bint Huyayy (may Allah be pleased with her)." Both of them said, "Subhan Allah! O Messenger of Allah, (could we ever think any ill thought about you)?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Satan flows through the human body like blood, and I feared that he might cast some evil thought into your hearts," or he said, "might cast something (into your hearts)."
