Hadith 2217
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ ، ثُمَّ دَخَلَ الْمَكَانَ الَّذِي يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ فِيهِ . فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ الْعَشْرَ الأَوَاخِرَ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ فَضُرِبَ لَهُ خِبَاءٌ " ، وَأَمَرَتْ عَائِشَةُ ، فَضُرِبَ لَهَا خِبَاءٌ ، وَأَمَرَتْ حَفْصَةُ ، فَضُرِبَ لَهَا خِبَاءٌ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَتْ زَيْنَبُ خِبَاءَهَا أَمَرَتْ بِخِبَاءٍ ، فَضُرِبَ لَهَا ، فَلَمَّا رَأَى ذَلِكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَمْ يَعْتَكِفْ فِي رَمَضَانَ ، فَاعْتَكَفَ فِي شَوَّالٍ
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to observe i'tikaf, he would perform the morning prayer, then enter the place where he intended to sit for i'tikaf. When he intended to observe i'tikaf in the last ten days of Ramadan, a tent would be set up for him. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) also ordered for a tent to be set up for her, so a tent was set up for her as well. Lady Hafsa (may Allah be pleased with her) ordered for a tent to be set up for her, so a tent was set up for her as well. Then when Lady Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) saw their tents set up, she also ordered for a tent to be set up, so a tent was set up for her as well. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw this scene, he did not observe i'tikaf in Ramadan. And he observed i'tikaf in Shawwal.
