Hadith 2193
Hazrat Zirr says that I asked Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) to tell me about Laylat al-Qadr, because our companions asked Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) about it, so he replied that whoever stands (in prayer) throughout (the nights), he will attain Laylat al-Qadr. So Sayyiduna Ubayy (may Allah be pleased with him) said: May Allah have mercy on Abu Abdur Rahman. Certainly, he knows that Laylat al-Qadr is in the blessed month of Ramadan, but he disliked that people should rely (on a specific night and neglect striving in worship), or he liked that people should not rely (on a specific night). By Allah, Laylat al-Qadr is on the twenty-seventh night of Ramadan. He did not make any exception in this (rather, he swore that it is the twenty-seventh night). He says: I asked, Abu Mundhir, how did you know this? He replied: By the sign which the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us. Hazrat Asim says: I asked Zirr (may Allah have mercy on him), what is that sign? He replied: On the morning of Laylat al-Qadr, the sun will rise like a tray, and until it rises high, it will have no rays.
