Hadith 2191
Hazrat Zir narrates that I asked Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), so I said, "Your brother Ibn Mas'ud says that whoever stands in prayer throughout the year will attain Laylat al-Qadr." He replied, "May Allah have mercy on them; surely their intention is that people should not just rely (only on the last ten nights) and sit idle. Surely, they know that Laylat al-Qadr is in the blessed month of Ramadan, and it is in its last ten nights, and it is the twenty-seventh night." He says, "We asked, 'O Abu Mundhir, how can this night be recognized?' He replied, 'By the sign and indication that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) told us: that on that day the sun will rise without rays.'" In the narration of Janab Duraqi, these words are not present: "Surely their intention is that people should not just rely and sit idle."
