Hadith 2152
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Has it not been reported to me that you spend the whole night in voluntary prayer and fast every day?" I replied that I do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do so. If you act like this, your eyes will become weak and sunken, and your soul will become weary and fatigued. Indeed, your soul has a right over you, your family has a right over you, and your eyes have a right over you. Therefore, sleep as well and pray, fast and also leave fasting (on some days)." This is the narration of Abdul Jabbar, and in the narration of Makhzumi, the words "Do not do so" are not present.
