Hadith 2141
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَأَبُو قِلابَةَ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ بِنْتِ طَلْحَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ أُمِّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُحِبُّ طَعَامَنَا ، فَجَاءَ يَوْمًا ، فَقَالَ : " هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ مِنْ ذَلِكِ الطَّعَامِ ؟ " . فَقُلْتُ : لا . فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي صَائِمٌ "
Mother of the Believers, Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to like our food. So one day he came and said: "Do you have any of that food?" I replied, "No." So he said: "(Then) I am fasting."

Hadith 2142
قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : قَدْ ذَكَرْنَا أَخْبَارَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صِيَامِ عَاشُورَاءَ وَأَمْرِهِ بِالصَّوْمِ مَنْ لَمْ يَجْمَعْ صِيَامَهُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فِي أَبْوَابِ صَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ
Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that we have mentioned the chapters regarding the fasting of Ashura and the ahadith of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the fasting of Ashura. Among them is also your command that whoever did not make the intention at night should also observe the fast of Ashura.
