Hadith 2096
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو , حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ الأَعْرَجِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَهُوَ مُتَوَسِّدٌ رِدَاءَهُ , فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ صِيَامِ عَاشُورَاءَ , فَقَالَ : " اعْدُدْ , فَإِذَا أَصْبَحْتَ يَوْمَ التَّاسِعِ مِنْ مُحَرَّمٍ فَأَصْبِحْ صَائِمًا " . قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَكَذَاكَ كَانَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ ؟ قَالَ : " كَذَاكَ كَانَ يَصُومُ "
Hakam bin A'raj narrates that I asked Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) while he was sitting in the Sacred Mosque, reclining on his cloak. I asked him about the fasting of Ashura. He said: "Keep counting, and when you reach the morning of the ninth of Muharram, then fast." He says: I asked, "Did Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to fast like this?" He replied, "He used to fast like this."
Hadith 2097
حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ , عَنْ حَاجِبِ بْنِ عُمَرَ , عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الأَعْرَجِ بِمِثْلِهِ , وَهُوَ مُتَوَسِّدٌ رِدَاءَهُ فِي زَمْزَمَ
It is narrated with the chain of narration from Ja'far bin Muhammad similar to the above, with these words: He was sitting near Zamzam, making his cloak a pillow.
Hadith 2098
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , أَخْبَرَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ , حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ , عَنْ حَاجِبِ بْنِ عُمَرَ , عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ الأَعْرَجِ , عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فِي يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ ، قَالَ : " هُوَ يَوْمُ التَّاسِعِ " . قُلْتُ : كَذَلِكَ صَامَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said regarding the day of Ashura that it is the ninth day. I asked, "So did Muhammad (peace be upon him) also fast on (the ninth day) like this?"
