Hadith 2056
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مَعْبَدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ التِّرْمِذِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْثَرٌ , عَنِ أَشْعَثَ , عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي لَيْلَى , عَنْ نَافِعٍ , عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ مَاتَ وَعَلَيْهِ صِيَامُ شَهْرٍ فَلْيُطْعَمْ عَنْهُ مَكَانَ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مِسْكِينًا " . قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : هَذَا عِنْدِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى قَاضِي الْكُوفَةِ
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever passes away and has a month of fasts due upon him, then for each day a poor person should be fed on his behalf." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that in my view, the Muhammad bin Abi Layla referred to here is Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman bin Abi Layla, who was the judge of Kufa.
