Hadith 2054
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ , عَنْ شُعْبَةَ , عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ , عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ , عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ , أَنَّ امْرَأَةً رَكِبَتِ الْبَحْرَ , فَنَذَرَتْ أَنْ تَصُومَ شَهْرًا , فَمَاتَتْ , فَسَأَلَ أَخُوهَا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , " فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَصُومَ عَنْهَا "
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a woman undertook a sea journey and made a vow to fast for one month. Then she passed away, so her brother asked the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) about her vow. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) instructed him to fast on her behalf.
