Hadith 2053
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى الصَّنْعَانِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَرِيزٍ فِي الْمَرْأَةِ مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمٌ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ , عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : أَتَتِ امْرَأَةٌ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّ أُمِّي مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا صَوْمُ خَمْسَةَ عَشَرَ يَوْمًا , قَالَ : " أَرَأَيْتِ لَوْ أَنَّ أُمَّكِ مَاتَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا دَيْنٌ , أَكُنْتِ قَاضِيَتَهُ ؟ " قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : " اقْضِي دَيْنَ أُمِّكِ " . وَالْمَرْأَةُ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a woman came to the service of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah, my mother passed away while she still had fifteen days of obligatory fasts remaining." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Tell me, if your mother had died owing a debt, would you have paid off her debt?" She replied, "Yes." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Then pay off your mother's debt." This woman was from the Khath'am tribe.
