Hadith 1898
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who eats food and gives thanks is like the fasting person who is patient." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty says that every deed of the son of Adam is for him except fasting, for it is for Me and I alone will reward it. He leaves his food, drink, and desires for My sake."
Hadith 1899
Hazrat Hanzalah bin Ali narrates that I heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) delivering a narration in this Baqi’ that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and he narrated a narration similar to the one mentioned above. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the chains of narration of Sa’eed al-Maqburi and Hanzalah bin Ali are both authentic. Did you not hear the statement of Maqburi that he says: I and Hanzalah bin Ali were present with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Baqi’.
