Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Salman, what is the condition and importance of the day of Jumu'ah (Friday)?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "O Salman, what is the day of Jumu'ah?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "O Salman, how is the day of Jumu'ah?" I replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Salman, on the day of Jumu'ah your father or the father of all of you (Adam) was gathered (created). I will tell you the importance and virtue of the day of Jumu'ah. Whoever, on the day of Jumu'ah, attains purity and cleanliness as you have been commanded, leaves his house and comes (to the mosque) for Jumu'ah, then sits quietly (and listens to the sermon) until he performs his prayer, then this act will be an expiation for the sins committed until the next Jumu'ah."
