Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) led us in prayer one day. When he finished the prayer and turned his blessed face towards us, he said: "O people, I am your imam, so do not bow (ruku‘) before me, nor prostrate (sujud) before me. Do not precede me in standing, sitting, or in finishing the prayer. Indeed, I see behind me as I see in front of me. By the One in whose hand is my soul, if you were to see what I have seen, you would laugh little and weep much." We asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), what have you seen?" He replied: "I have seen Paradise and Hell." This is the narration of Harun. In the narration of ‘Ali bin Mushir, the word "sitting" (qu‘ud) is not mentioned, and these words are present: "Indeed, I see you from in front of me and from behind me as well."
