172| Chapter on the prohibition of women attending the mosque while wearing perfume
Hadith 1680
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، وَيَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ بُسْرِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ زَيْنَبَ امْرَأَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا شَهِدَتْ إِحْدَاكُنَّ الْمَسْجِدَ فَلا تَمَسَّ طِيبًا " . وَقَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ : قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي بُكَيْرٌ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّهَا سَمِعَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
It is narrated from Sayyidah Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her), the honorable wife of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any woman among you attends the mosque, she should not apply perfume." In the narration of Janab Bukair, it is mentioned that Sayyidah Zainab (may Allah be pleased with her) heard this (statement) from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
