165| Chapter on voluntary prayers in congregation during the day contrary to those who disliked it
Hadith 1673
نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَزِيزٍ الأَيْلِيُّ ، أَنَّ سَلامَةَ حَدَّثَهُمْ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، أَنَّ مَحْمُودَ بْنَ الرَّبِيعِ الأَنْصَارِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي عِتْبَانُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : فَغَدَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ حِينَ ارْتَفَعَ النَّهَارُ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَذِنْتُ لَهُ ، فَلَمْ يَجْلِسْ حَتَّى دَخَلَ الْبَيْتَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَيْنَ تُحِبُّ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ فِي بَيْتِكَ ؟ " قَالَ : فَأَشَرْتُ لَهُ إِلَى نَاحِيَةِ الْبَيْتِ ، فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَبَّرَ ، فَقُمْنَا ، فَصَفَفْنَا ، فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ
Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Rabee’ Ansari رضي الله عنه narrates that Sayyiduna ‘Itbaan bin Malik رضي الله عنه told me that the next day, after the sun had risen high, the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه came to my house. The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم sought permission (to enter), so I granted him permission (and welcomed him). He صلى الله عليه وسلم entered the house without sitting and asked: “In which part of your house would you like me to lead the prayer?” He says: I pointed to a corner of the house. So the Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم stood up and said the takbeer, and we formed rows behind him, and he led us in two rak’ahs, then made the salaam.
