جماع أبواب قيام المأمومين خلف الإمام وما فيه من السننChapters on Followers Standing Behind the Imam
(140) بَابُ الْمَسْبُوقِ بِبَعْضِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَالْأَمْرِ بِاقْتِدَائِهِ بِالْإِمَامِ فِيمَا يُدْرِكُ، وَإِتْمَامِهِ مَا سُبِقَ بِهِ بَعْدَ فَرَاغِ الْإِمَامِ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ.
140| Chapter on the latecomer catching part of the prayer, following the imam in what he catches, and completing what he missed after the imam finishes
Hadith 1644
نا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ الْخَوْلانِيُّ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، نا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلامٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ سَمِعَ جَلَبَةً ، فَقَالَ : " مَا شَأْنُكُمْ " ؟ قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، اسْتَعْجَلْنَا إِلَى الصَّلاةِ ، قَالَ : " فَلا تَفْعَلُوا ، إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاةُ ، فَلا تَقُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْنِي ، وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ ، فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا ، وَمَا فَاتَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا "
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that his father informed him that while we were present with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he suddenly heard a commotion and noise. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What has happened to you?" They replied, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), we hurried for the prayer." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not do that. When the prayer is established, do not stand up until you see me, and adopt calmness and tranquility. Then, whatever part of the prayer you catch, perform it, and whatever you miss, complete it."
