جماع أبواب قيام المأمومين خلف الإمام وما فيه من السننChapters on Followers Standing Behind the Imam
(118) بَابُ أَمْرِ الْمَأْمُومِ بِالصَّلَاةِ جَالِسًا إِذَا صَلَّى إِمَامُهُ جَالِسًا.
118| Chapter on instructing the follower to pray sitting if the imam prays sitting
Hadith 1613
نا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ ، نا سُفْيَانُ ، نا أَبُو الزِّنَادِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، رِوَايَةً ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ الإِمَامَ أَمِينٌ ، أَوْ أَمِيرٌ ، فَإِنْ صَلَّى قَاعِدًا ، فَصَلُّوا قُعُودًا ، وَإِنْ صَلَّى قَائِمًا ، فَصَلُّوا قِيَامًا "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that indeed the Imam is a trustee or a leader; if he leads the prayer sitting, then you should also pray sitting, and if he leads the prayer standing, then you should also pray standing.
