72| Best rows for men and best rows for women
Hadith 1561
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي الدَّرَاوَرْدِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَسَهْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " خَيْرُ صُفُوفِ الرِّجَالِ أَوَّلُهَا ، وَشَرُّهَا آخِرُهَا ، وَخَيْرُ صُفُوفِ النِّسَاءِ آخِرُهَا ، وَشَرُّهَا أَوَّلُهَا "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best rows for men are the first ones and the worst are the last ones, and the best rows for women are the last ones and the worst are the first ones."
Hadith 1562
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنِي الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَخَيْرُ صُفُوفِ الرِّجَالِ الْمُقَدَّمُ ، وَشَرُّهَا الْمُؤَخَّرُ ، وَخَيْرُ صُفُوفِ النِّسَاءِ الْمُؤَخَّرُ ، وَشَرُّهَا الْمُقَدَّمُ ، يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ ، إِذَا سَجَدَ الرِّجَالُ ، فَاحْفَظْنَ أَبْصَارَكُنَّ " . قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ : مِمَّ ذَاكَ ؟ قَالَ : مِنْ ضِيقِ الإِزَارِ
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The best rows for men are the front ones and their worst rows are the back ones, and the best rows for women are the back ones and their worst rows are the front ones. O assembly of women, when the men prostrate, you should guard your gaze (so that your eyes do not fall upon their private parts)." Imam Sufyan says: I asked Abdullah bin Abi Bakr, why was this command given to the women? He replied: Because of the tight and short lower garments.
