Abdur Rahman bin Jubair narrates from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was standing at his door, gesturing with his hand as if he was talking to himself. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him, "O Abu Abdur Rahman, what is the matter with you that you are talking to yourself?" He replied, "What is the matter with me? Is it not that the enemy of Allah (Satan) wants to make me heedless of the words which I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)? He says to me, 'You have been sitting at home for a long time, enduring difficulties; will you not go to a gathering and converse?' While I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever strives in the path of Allah, his guarantee is upon Allah. And whoever visits a sick person, he is in the guarantee of Allah. And whoever goes to the mosque in the morning or evening, he is in the guarantee of Allah. And whoever goes to visit the sick Imam, his guarantee is upon Allah. And whoever sits in his house and does not backbite anyone with evil, he is in the guarantee of Allah.' So this enemy of Allah (Iblis) wants to take me out of my house and bring me to a gathering."
