19| Recording charity for walking to prayer
Hadith 1493
نَا عِيسَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْغَافِقِيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، نَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا يُونُسَ وَهُوَ سُلَيْمُ بْنُ جُبَيْرٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " كُلُّ نَفْسٍ كُتِبَ عَلَيْهَا الصَّدَقَةُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ طَلَعَتْ فِيهِ الشَّمْسُ ، فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ : أَنْ تَعْدِلَ بَيْنَ الاثْنَيْنِ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَأَنْ تُعِينَ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ وَتَحْمِلَهُ عَلَيْهَا صَدَقَةٌ ، وَتُمِيطُ الأَذَى عَنِ الطَّرِيقِ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَمِنْ ذَلِكَ أَنْ تُعِينَ الرَّجُلَ عَلَى دَابَّتِهِ وَتَحْمِلَهُ عَلَيْهَا ، وَتُرْفَعَ مَتَاعَهُ عَلَيْهَا صَدَقَةٌ ، وَالْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَكُلُّ خُطْوَةٍ تَمْشِي بِهَا إِلَى الصَّلاةِ صَدَقَةٌ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Charity is obligatory upon every soul for every day on which the sun rises. And among these is that you act justly between two people—that is charity. And if you help a man to mount his riding animal, that too is charity. If you remove something harmful from the road, that too is charity. Among these is also that you help a man to mount his riding animal and help him load his belongings onto it—that too is charity. Speaking good words is also charity. And every step you take towards the prayer is charity."
Hadith 1494
نَا الْحُسَيْنُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْكَلِمَةُ الطَّيِّبَةُ صَدَقَةٌ ، وَكُلُّ خُطْوَةٍ تَمْشِيهَا إِلَى الصَّلاةِ صَدَقَةٌ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "A pure word is also charity, and every step that you take towards prayer is also charity."
