(707) بَابُ إِبَاحَةِ قَطْعِ الْخُطْبَةِ لِيُعَلِّمَ بَعْضَ الرَّعِيَّةَ
707| Permissibility of interrupting the sermon to teach some of the congregation
Hadith 1457
نَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، نَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رِفَاعَةَ ، قَالَ : " جِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ ، فَقُلْتُ : رَجُلٌ جَاهِلٌ عَنْ دِينٍ ، لا يَدْرِي مَا دِينُهُ ، فَأَقْبَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيَّ وَتَرَكَ الْخُطْبَةَ ، ثُمَّ أُتِيَ بِكُرْسِيٍّ خَلَتْ قَوَائِمُهُ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ ، فَقَعَدَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَجَعَلَ يُعَلِّمُنِي مِمَّا عَلَّمَهُ اللَّهُ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى خُطْبَتَهُ قَائِمًا "
Sayyiduna Abu Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I came to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was delivering a sermon. So I said, “I am a person ignorant of the religion, who does not know what his religion is.” The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turned towards me and stopped the sermon. Then a chair was brought, whose legs were free of iron. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sat on it. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) began to teach me from the knowledge that Allah Almighty had taught him. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and delivered the remainder of the sermon.
