(704) بَابُ أَمْرِ الْإِمَامِ الْقَارِئَ بِقِرَاءَةِ الْقُرْآنِ وَاسْتِمَاعِهِ لِلْقِرَاءَةِ
704| The imam instructing a reciter to recite Quran and listening to it
Hadith Q1454
وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، وَالْبُكَاءِ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ عِنْدَ اسْتِمَاعِ الْقُرْآنِ
The statement regarding weeping on the pulpit after hearing the recitation of the Noble Qur'an while the Imam is present on the pulpit.
Hadith 1454
نَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، نَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ ، نَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، كَذَا يَقُولُ أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ " أَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أَقْرَأَ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَقَرَأْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ سُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغْتُ : فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلاءِ شَهِيدًا سورة النساء آية 41 ، فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَعَيْنَاهُ تَذْرِفَانِ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered me to recite (the Qur'an) to him while he was seated on the pulpit. So I recited some verses from Surah An-Nisa to him, until I reached this verse « فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَىٰ هَٰؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا » [ سورة النساء : 41] "Then how (will it be) when We bring from every nation a witness and We bring you (O Muhammad) as a witness against these people?" So I looked towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and his eyes were flowing with tears.
