701| Dislike of raising hands on the pulpit during the sermon
Hadith 1451
نَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الأَشَجُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ رُوَيْبَةَ أَنَّهُ ، رَأَى بِشْرَ بْنَ مَرْوَانَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ رَافِعًا يَدَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " قَبَّحَ اللَّهُ هَاتَيْنِ الْيَدَيْنِ ، رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لا يَزِيدُ عَلَى أَنْ يُشِيرَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ammarah bin Ruwaybah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he saw Bishr bin Marwan raising both his hands on the pulpit, so he said: "May Allah make these two hands bad (keep them away from goodness and virtue). I have seen the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him); he would not gesture with more than his finger."
