(697) بَابُ السُّكُوتِ فِي الْجُلُوسِ بَيْنَ الْخُطْبَتَيْنِ وَتَرْكِ الْكَلَامِ فِيهِ
697| Remaining silent and not speaking while sitting between the two sermons
Hadith 1447
نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَمِيعٍ الْعِجْلِيَّ ، حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ السُّوَائِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ قَائِمًا ، ثُمَّ يَقْعُدُ قَعْدَةً لا يَتَكَلَّمُ ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فَيَخْطُبُ خُطْبَةً أُخْرَى ، فَمَنْ حَدَّثَكُمْ أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ قَاعِدًا فَقَدْ كَذَبَ "
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering the sermon on Friday while standing, then he (peace be upon him) sat down for a short while and did not speak. Then he (peace be upon him) stood up and delivered the second sermon. Therefore, whoever tells you that he saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) delivering the sermon while sitting, he has lied.
