691| Recitation in the Eid prayers
Hadith 1440
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ الصُّورِيُّ بِالْفُسْطَاطِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُرَيْحُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَأَلَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ بِمَا قَرَأَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي صَلاةِ الْخُرُوجِ فِي الْعِيدَيْنِ ، فَقُلْتُ : " قَرَأَ اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانْشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ ، وَ ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : لَمْ يُسْنِدْ هَذَا الْخَبَرَ أَحَدٌ أَعْلَمُهُ غَيْرُ فُلَيْحِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ ، رَوَاهُ مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، وَابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَقَالا : إِنَّ عُمَرَ سَأَلَ أَبَا وَاقِدٍ اللَّيْثِيَّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو الأَزْهَرِ مِنْ أَصْلِهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ فُلَيْحٍ
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him), he says that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, "Which (surahs) did the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite in the Eid prayers?" I replied that he (peace and blessings be upon him) recited Surah Al-Qamar « اقْتَرَبَتِ السَّاعَةُ وَانشَقَّ الْقَمَرُ » and Surah Qaf « ق ۚ وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ ». Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that to my knowledge, only Fulaikh bin Sulayman has narrated this hadith in a musnad form. When Imam Malik and Ibn Uyaynah narrated this hadith with their chain, they said that Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Sayyiduna Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him).
Hadith 1441
وَفِي خَبَرِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بِشِيرٍ ، وَسَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " قَرَأَ بِـ : سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الأَعْلَى وَ هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ " وَهَذَا مِنَ اخْتِلافِ الْمُبَاحِ
In the narrations of Sayyiduna Nu'man bin Bashir and Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with them both), it is mentioned that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) recited Surah Al-A'la « سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْأَعْلَى » and Surah Al-Ghashiyah (« هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْغَاشِيَةِ ») in the (Eid prayers). And this (difference in recitation) is from the category of permissible differences.
