(686) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْخَبَرِ الْمُفَسِّرُ لِلْعِلَّةِ الَّتِي كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُخْرِجُ الْعَنَزَةَ إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى،
686| Report explaining why the Prophet (ﷺ) brought a spear to the prayer place
Hadith Q1435
وَالدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّهُ إِنَّمَا كَانَ خَرَّجَهَا إِذْ لَا بِنَاءَ بِالْمُصَلَّى يَوْمَئِذٍ يَسْتُرُ الْمُصَلِّيَ
And the explanation of the evidence that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to take a spear with him for this reason: because there was no structure in either of the Eid grounds that could serve as a sutrah (barrier) for the one praying.
Hadith 1435
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُزَيْرٍ الأَيْلِيُّ ، أَنَّ سَلامَةَ حَدَّثَنِي ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ إِذَا خَرَجَ إِلَى الْمُصَلَّى فِي الأَضْحَى وَالْفِطْرِ خَرَجَ بِالْعَنَزَةِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى تُرْكَزَ فِي الْمُصَلَّى فَيُصَلِّي إِلَيْهَا ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ الْمُصَلَّى كَانَ فَضَاءً لَيْسَ فِيهِ شَيْءٌ مَبْنِيٌّ يَسْتَتِرُ بِهِ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to take a spear with him (to the Eid ground) on the days of Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. He (peace be upon him) would plant it in front of him while leading the prayer, and would pray facing towards it. The reason for this was that there was no building in the Eid ground that could be used as a sutrah (barrier) for prayer.
