(673) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ الِاسْتِسْقَاءِ بِبَعْضِ قَرَابَةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْبَلْدَةِ الَّتِي يَسْتَسْقِي بِهَا بِبَعْضِ قَرَابَتِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
673| Recommendation to seek rain through some relatives of the Prophet (ﷺ) in the town
Hadith 1421
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِذَا قَحَطُوا خَرَجَ يَسْتَسْقِي بِالْعَبَّاسِ ، فَيَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّا كُنَّا إِذَا قَحَطْنَا اسْتَسْقَيْنَا بِنَبِيِّكَ فَتَسْقِينَا ، وَإِنَّا نَسْتَسْقِيكَ الْيَوْمَ بِعَمِّ نَبِيِّكَ ، أَوْ نَبِيِّنَا ، فَاسْقِنَا ، فَيُسْقَوْنَ " . قَالَ الأَنْصَارِيُّ : كَذَا وَجَدْتُ فِي كِتَابِي بِخَطِّي فَيُسْقَوْنَ
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that when people suffered from drought during the time of Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), he would seek rain through Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him). He would supplicate: "O Allah, when we were afflicted with drought, we used to seek rain through Your Prophet, and You would grant us rain. Today, we seek rain through the uncle of Your Prophet or the uncle of our Prophet." (Sayyiduna Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, said that) the people were granted rain. Muhammad bin Abdullah Ansari says: I have seen written in my own handwriting in my book only the words "fa yusqawna" (so they are given to drink).
