And the explanation of the evidence that neither of them is eclipsed because of the death of any person; rather, both of them are two signs among the signs of Allah Almighty.

Hadith 1370
Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud Uqbah bin Amr رضي الله عنه narrates from the Noble Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that he صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Indeed, the sun and the moon are not eclipsed due to anyone’s death, but both are two signs among the signs of Allah. Therefore, when you see this sign, perform prayer.” Imam Abu Bakr رحمه الله says that the statement of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, “When you see this sign, perform prayer,” contains evidence and proof for the madhhab of Imam Muzani رحمه الله in the issue where our companions among the hadith scholars have opposed him: that if a man who swears an oath has two wives and says to them, ‘When both of you give birth, both of you will be divorced.’ Imam Muzani رحمه الله says that when one of the women gives birth, both will be divorced, because it is certain that both women cannot give birth to the same child at the same time; rather, one woman will give birth to one child. Therefore, the statement of the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, “When you see this sign, perform prayer,” means that when you see the eclipse of either one of them, perform prayer, because it is certain that the sun and the moon are not eclipsed at the same time, just as two women cannot give birth to the same child.
