Hadith 1332
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that a black woman was a slave of an Arab tribe. They set her free and she continued to live with them. One day, a girl of theirs went outside the house. She was wearing a red leather waistband necklace. That waistband necklace fell down. A kite passed by and, thinking it was meat, snatched it up (and flew away). The people of the tribe searched for it but could not find the waistband necklace. They accused the slave woman of stealing it. Then they searched her, even to the extent of searching her private parts. While they were still searching and investigating, the kite passed by again and dropped the waistband necklace. It fell among them, so the slave woman said to them, "This is the necklace for which you accused me, even though I was completely innocent of it. And now it is lying before you." Then she went to the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and became Muslim, so her tent or hut was set up in the mosque. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that she used to come and sit with me, and whenever she came and sat with me, she would recite this verse: "Wa yawma al-wishāḥi min ta‘ājībi rabbina illā annahu min baldati al-kufri anjānī" (And the day of the waistband necklace’s loss and recovery is among the wonders of my Lord. Except that He granted me salvation from the land of disbelief.) I asked her, "What is the reason that whenever you sit with me, you recite this verse?" So she narrated this incident to me. I have mentioned the hadiths regarding setting up dome-shaped tents in mosques for i‘tikaf in the Book of I‘tikaf.
