(611) بَابُ الرُّخْصَةِ فِي إِنْزَالِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ الْمَسْجِدَ غَيْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ
The chapter on the concession for non-Muslims to enter mosques other than the Sacred Mosque
Hadith Q1328
إِذَا كَانَ ذَلِكَ أَرْجَا لِإِسْلَامِهِمْ وَأَرَقَّ لِقُلُوبِهِمْ إِذَا سَمِعُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَالذِّكْرَ قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ: {فَلَا يَقْرَبُوا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَذَا} [التوبة: ٢٨]
When there is hope that, after listening to the Noble Qur'an and the remembrance of Allah, they may accept Islam and it may greatly soften their hearts. Allah Almighty says: « فَلَا يَقْرَبُوا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَٰذَا » [ سورة التوبة : 28 ] "O you who believe, indeed the polytheists are impure, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-Haram after this year."
Hadith 1328
نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الزَّعْفَرَانِيُّ ، نَا عَفَّانُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي الْعَاصِ " أَنَّ وَفْدَ ثَقِيفٍ قَدِمُوا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَنْزَلَهُمُ الْمَسْجِدَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ أَرَقَّ لِقُلُوبِهِمْ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Uthman bin Abi al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) that a delegation from the tribe of Thaqif came to the service of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he accommodated them in the Prophet’s Mosque so that this would soften their hearts (and they would accept Islam).
