(604) بَابُ الْأَمْرِ بِتَوْسِعَةِ الْمَسَاجِدِ إِذَا بُنِيَتْ
The chapter on the command to expand mosques when building them
Hadith 1320
نَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْخُزَاعِيُّ ، نَا زَيْدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ دِرْهَمٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الأَنْصَارِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْمًا مِنَ الأَنْصَارِ وَهُمْ يَبْنُونَ مَسْجِدًا ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ : " أَوْسِعُوهُ تَمْلَئُوهُ "
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came to a group of the Ansar while they were building a mosque. So the Prophet (peace be upon him) instructed them: "Make it spacious, you will fill it (with your numbers)."
