(582) بَابٌ فِي فَضْلِ الْمَسْجِدِ وَإِنْ صَغُرَ الْمَسْجِدُ وَضَاقَ
The chapter on the virtue of the mosque, even if small and crowded
Hadith 1292
نَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، وَعِيسَى بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْغَافِقِيُّ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَشِيطٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ حَفَرَ مَاءً لَمْ يَشْرَبْ مِنْهُ كَبِدٌ حَرِيٌّ مِنْ جِنٍّ وَلا إِنْسٍ وَلا طَائِرٍ إِلا آجَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ بَنَى مَسْجِدًا كَمَفْحَصِ قَطَاةٍ أَوْ أَصْغَرَ بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ " قَالَ يُونُسُ : مِنْ سَبْعٍ وَلا طَائِرٍ ، وَقَالَ : كَمَفْحَصِ قَطَاةٍ
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever has a well dug from which living beings—jinn, humans, and birds—drink, Allah Almighty will grant him reward on the Day of Resurrection. And whoever builds a mosque the size of a sparrow's nest or even smaller, Allah Almighty will build a house for him in Paradise." The words of Yunus are: "Whatever beast or bird drinks from it—" and he said: "A mosque the size of a sparrow's nest."
