(513) بَابُ قَضَاءِ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ بِالنَّهَارِ إِذَا فَاتَتْ لِمَرَضٍ أَوْ شُغْلٍ أَوْ نَوْمٍ
The chapter on making up night prayer during the day if missed due to illness, work, or sleep
Hadith 1169
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ خَشْرَمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا صَلَّى صَلاةً أَثْبَتَهَا ، وَكَانَ إِذَا نَامَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ أَوْ مَرِضَ صَلَّى مِنَ النَّهَارِ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً "
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) performed a prayer, he would do so regularly, and when he (peace be upon him) missed the Tahajjud prayer due to sleep or became ill, he would perform twelve rak‘ahs during the day.
Hadith 1170
حَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، أَيْضًا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ كِلاهُمَا ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، أَيْضًا نَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي كِلاهُمَا ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا صَلَّى صَلاةً أَحَبَّ أَنْ يُدَاوِمَ عَلَيْهَا ، وَكَانَ إِذَا شَغَلَهُ عَنْ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ نَوْمٌ أَوْ مَرَضٌ أَوْ وَجَعٌ صَلَّى مِنَ النَّهَارِ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً " . هَذَا حَدِيثُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed any prayer, he liked to be consistent and regular in it. And whenever sleep, illness, or any difficulty prevented him (peace and blessings be upon him) from performing the Tahajjud prayer, he (peace and blessings be upon him) would offer twelve rak‘ahs during the day. This is the narration of Yahya bin Sa‘eed.
