(498) بَابُ افْتِتَاحِ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ
The chapter on starting night prayer with two light units
Hadith 1150
نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ بِشْرِ بْنِ مَنْصُورٍ السُّلَيْمِيُّ ، نَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا قَامَ أَحَدُكُمْ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَلْيَفْتَتِحْ صَلاتَهُ بِرَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ "
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you gets up at night for the Tahajjud prayer, he should begin his prayer with two light and short rak‘ahs."
