Hadith 1146
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah and Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with them) bear witness regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Indeed, Allah gives respite until a third of the night has passed. Then He descends (to the lowest heaven) and says: 'Is there anyone who asks, so that I may give him? Is there anyone who repents, so that I may accept his repentance? Is there anyone who seeks forgiveness for sins, so that I may forgive him?'" A man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Does this (series of mercy and blessings) continue until the break of dawn?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes."
Hadith 1147
Sayyiduna Amr bin Abasah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I presented myself before the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he was sitting in the market of ‘Ukaz. Then he narrated the complete hadith. He says: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah, is there any supplication that is closer to acceptance than another, or is there any moment that is closer to acceptance than another?” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Yes, indeed, in the middle of the last (half) part of the night, the Lord, Blessed and Exalted, is very close to His servant. Therefore, if you have the ability to be among those who remember Allah at that hour, then be among them.”
