Chapters on Night Voluntary Prayers

(478) بَابُ ذِكْرِ خَبَرٍ نَسَخَ فَرْضَ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ بَعْدَمَا كَانَ فَرْضًا وَاجِبًا
The chapter mentioning the report about the abrogation of the obligation of night prayer after it was mandatory
2 (479) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ الْفَرْضَ قَدْ يُنْسَخُ فَيُجْعَلُ الْفَرْضُ تَطَوُّعًا،The chapter on the evidence that an obligation can be abrogated and become voluntary
3 (480) بَابُ كَرَاهَةِ تَرْكِ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ بَعْدَمَا كَانَ الْمَرْءُ قَدِ اعْتَادَهُThe chapter on the dislike of abandoning night prayer after one is accustomed to it
4 (481) بَابُ كَرَاهَةِ تَرْكِ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ وَإِنْ كَانَ تَطَوُّعًا لَا فَرْضًاThe chapter on the dislike of abandoning night prayer even if it is voluntary, not obligatory
5 (482) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ يَحُلُّ عُقَدَ الشَّيْطَانِ الَّتِي يَعْقِدُهَا عَلَى النَّائِمِThe chapter on the recommendation of night prayer, which unties the knots Satan ties on the sleeper
6 (483) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ بَعْدَ ذِكْرِ اللَّهِ وَالْوُضُوءِ تَحُلَّانِ الْعُقَدَ كُلَّهَا الَّتِي يَعْقِدُهَا الشَّيْطَانُ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ النَّائِمِThe chapter on the evidence that two units of night prayer after remembrance and ablution untie all the knots Satan ties on the back of the sleeper's head
7 (484) بَابُ الدَّلِيلِ عَلَى أَنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ يَعْقِدُ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ النِّسَاءِ كَعَقْدِهِ عَلَى قَافِيَةِ الرِّجَالِ بِاللَّيْلِ،The chapter on the evidence that Satan ties knots on women as he does on men at night
8 (485) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْبَيَانِ عَلَى أَنَّ صَلَاةَ اللَّيْلِ أَفْضَلُ الصَّلَاةِ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْفَرِيضَةِThe chapter clarifying that night prayer is the best prayer after obligatory prayer
9 (486) بَابُ التَّحْرِيضِ عَلَى قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ إِذْ هُوَ دَأَبُ الصَّالِحِينَ وَقُرْبَةٌ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَتَكْفِيرُ السَّيِّئَاتِ وَمَنْهَاةٌ عَنِ الْإِثْمِThe chapter urging night prayer, as it is the habit of the righteous, a means to draw near to Allah, expiate sins, and prevent wrongdoing
10 (487) بَابُ قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِ وَإِنْ كَانَ الْمَرْءُ وَجِعًا مَرِيضًا إِذَا قَدَرَ عَلَى الْقِيَامِ مَعَ الْوَجَعِ وَالْمَرَضِThe chapter on praying at night even if sick, if able to stand despite illness
11 (488) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ قَاعِدًا إِذَا مَرِضَ الْمَرْءُ أَوْ كَسِلَThe chapter on the recommendation to pray night prayer sitting if sick or tired
12 (489) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ إِيقَاظِ الْمَرْءِ لِصَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِThe chapter on the recommendation to wake someone for night prayer
13 (490) بَابُ ذِكْرِ أَقَلِّ مَا يُجْزِئُ مِنَ الْقِرَاءَةِ فِي قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِThe chapter on the minimum recitation required in night prayer
14 (491) بَابُ ذِكْرِ فَضِيلَةِ قِرَاءَةِ مِائَةِ آيَةٍ فِي صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ، إِذْ قَارِئُ مِائَةِ آيَةٍ فِي لَيْلَةٍ لَا يُكْتَبُ مِنَ الْغَافِلِينَThe chapter on the virtue of reciting one hundred verses in night prayer, as such a person is not written among the heedless
15 (492) بَابُ فَضْلِ قِرَاءَةِ مِائَتَيْ آيَةٍ فِي لَيْلَةٍ إِذْ قَارِئُهَا يُكْتَبُ مِنَ الْقَانِتِينَ الْمُخْلِصِينَThe chapter on the virtue of reciting two hundred verses in a night, as such a person is written among the devout and sincere
16 (493) بَابُ فَضْلِ قِرَاءَةِ أَلْفِ آيَةٍ فِي لَيْلَةٍ إِنْ صَحَّ الْخَبَرُ،The chapter on the virtue of reciting one thousand verses in a night, if the report is authentic
17 (494) بَابُ فَضْلِ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ وَقَبْلَ السُّدُسِ الْآخِرِThe chapter on the virtue of night prayer before the last sixth of the night
18 (495) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ الدُّعَاءِ فِي نِصْفِ اللَّيْلِ الْآخِرِ رَجَاءَ الْإِجَابَةِThe chapter on the recommendation to supplicate in the last half of the night, hoping for a response

24 (501) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ مَسْأَلَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْهِدَايَةَ لِمَا اخْتُلِفَ فِيهِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ عِنْدَ افْتِتَاحِ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِThe chapter on the recommendation to ask Allah for guidance in disputed matters at the start of night prayer

31 (508) بَابُ اسْتِحْبَابِ قِرَاءَةِ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَالزُّمَرِ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ اسْتِنَانًا بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَThe chapter on the recommendation to recite Surah Bani Isra'il and Az-Zumar every night, following the Prophet
32 (509) بَابُ ذِكْرِ عَدَدِ صَلَاةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِاللَّيْلِThe chapter on the number of units the Prophet prayed at night

37 (514) بَابُ ذِكْرِ الْوَقْتِ مِنَ النَّهَارِ الَّذِي يَكُونُ الْمَرْءُ فِيهِ مُدْرِكًا لِصَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ إِذَا فَاتَتْ بِاللَّيْلِ فَصَلَّاهَا فِي ذَلِكَ الْوَقْتِ مِنَ النَّهَارِThe chapter on the time during the day when one can make up night prayer if missed at night
38 (515) بَابُ ذِكْرِ النَّاوِي قِيَامَ اللَّيْلِ فَيَغْلِبُهُ النَّوْمُ عَلَى قِيَامِ اللَّيْلِThe chapter on intending to pray at night but being overcome by sleep
