Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Sayyiduna Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so I went to him in the evening while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was staying at the house of my maternal aunt, Sayyida Maymunah bint Harith (may Allah be pleased with her). So (at night) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up and performed the Tahajjud prayer. Then, when he (peace and blessings be upon him) had performed the two Sunnah of Fajr, he supplicated with this dua: « اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ رَحْمَةً مِنْ عِنْدِكَ تَهْدِي بِهَا قَلْبِي، وَتَجْمَعُ بِهَا شَمْلِیْ، وَتَلُمُّ بِهَا شَعَثِي، وَتَرُدُّ بِهَا الْغَیِّ، وَتُصْلِحُ بِهَا دِیْنِیْ، وَتَحْفَظُ بِهَا غَائِبِي، وَتَرْفَعُ بِهَا شَاهِدِي، وَتُزَكِّي بِهَا عَمَلِي، وَتَبْیَضُّ بِھَا وَجْھِیْ، وَتُلْهِمُنِي بِهَا رُشَدِي، وَتَعْصِمُنِي بِهَا مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ، اللَّهُمَّ أَعْطِنِي إِيمَانًا صَادِقاً، وَيَقِينًا لَيْسَ بَعْدَهُ كُفْرٌ، وَرَحْمَةً أَنَالُ بِهَا شَرَفَ كَرَامَتِكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالآخِرَةِ ۔ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْفَوْزَ فِي الْقَضَاءِ، وَنُزُلَ الشُّهَدَاءِ، وَعَيْشَ السُّعَدَاءِ، وَمَرَافَقَةَ الْأنْبِيَاءِ، وَالنَّصْرَ عَلَى الأَعْدَاءِ ۔ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُنْزِلُ بِكَ حَاجَتِي وَإِنْ قَصُرَ رَأْيِي، وَضَعُفَ عَمَلِي، وَافْتَقَرْتُ إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ، فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا قَاضِيَ الأُمُورِ وَيَا شَافِيَ الصُّدُورِ كَمَا تُجِيرُ بَيْنَ الْبُحُورِ أَنْ تُجِيرَنِي مِنْ عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ، وَمِنْ دَعْوَةِ الثُّبُورِ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْقُبُورِ ۔ اللَّهُمَّ مَا قَصُرَ عَنْهُ رَأْيِي، وَضَعُفَ عَنْهُ عَمَلِيْ، وَلَمْ تَبْلُغْهُ نِيَّتِي مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَعَدْتَّهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ عِبَادِكَ، أَوْ خَيْرٍ أَنْتَ مُعْطِيهِ أَحَدًا مِنْ خَلْقِكَ، فَإِنِّي أَرْغَبُ إِلَيْكَ فِيهِ، وَأَسْأَلُكَ یَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ ۔ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنَا هُدَاۃً مُهْتَدِينَ، غَيْرَ ضَالِّينَ وَلاَ مُضِلِّينَ، وَحَرْباً لِأَعْدَائِكَ، سَلَمًا لِأَوْلِيَائِكَ، نُحِبُّ بِحُبِّكَ النَّاسَ، وَنُعَادِي بِعَدَاوَتِكَ مَنْ خَالَفَكَ ۔ اللَّهُمَّ هَذَا الدُّعَاءُ، وَعَلَيْكَ الاِسْتِجَابَةُ، أَوِالْإِجَابَةُ، شَكَّ ابْنُ خَلْفٍ، وهٰذَا الْجَهْدُ، وَعَلَيْكَ التُّكْلَانُ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَٰهِ ۔ اللَّهُمَّ ذَا الْحَبْلِ الشَّدِيدِۃِ وَالأَمْرِ الرَّشِيدِ، أَسْأَلُكَ الأَمْنَ يَوْمَ الْوَعِيدِ، وَالْجَنَّةَ يَوْمَ الْخُلُودِ، مَعَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ الشُّهُودِ، الرُّكَّعِ السُّجُودِ الْمُوفِينَ بِالْعُهُودِ، إِنَّكَ رَحِيمٌ وَدُودٌ، وَأَنْتَ تَفْعَلُ مَا تُرِيدُ، سُبْحـانَ الَّذِي تُعْطِفُ الْعِزَّ وَقَالَ بِهٖ، سُبْحـانَ الَّذِي لَبِسَ الْمَجْدَ وَتَكَرَّمَ بِهٖ، سُبْحـانَ الَّذِي لاَ يَنْبَغِي التَّسْبِيْحُ إِلَّا لَهُ، سُبْحـانَ الَّذِي أَحْصٰی کُلَّ شَیْءٍ فَعَلَّمَهُ، سُبْحـانَ ذِی الْفَضْلِ وَالنَّعَمِ، سُبْحـانَ ذِی الْقُدْرَةِ وَالْكَرَمِ ۔ اَللّٰھُمَّ اجْعَلْ لِیْ نُوْرًا فِیْ قَلْبِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ قَبْرِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ سَمْعِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ بَصَرِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ شَعْرِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ بَشَرِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ لَحْمِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ دَمِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا فِیْ عِظَامِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا مِنْ بَیْنَ یَدَیَّ، وَ نُوْرًا مِنْ خَلْفِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا عَنْ یَمِیْنِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا عَنْ شِمَالِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا مِنْ فَوْقِیْ، وَ نُوْرًا مِنْ تَحْتِیْ، اَللّٰھُمَّ زِدْنِیْ نُوْرًا، وَ أَعْطِنِیْ نُوْرًا، وَ اجْعَلْ لِّیْ نُوْرًا. » “O Allah, I ask You for Your tremendous mercy, by which You guide my heart, gather my scattered affairs, unite my disordered matters, straighten my deviation, rectify my religion, protect my inner deeds, elevate my outward deeds, purify my actions, illuminate my face, and grant me success in righteous deeds (that earn Your pleasure). Protect me from every evil through it. O Allah, grant me true faith and such great certainty after which there is no disbelief, and bestow upon me such a great mercy by which I attain honor and status in this world and the Hereafter. O Allah, I ask You for success at the time of judgment, the rank and status of the martyrs, the life of the fortunate, the companionship of the noble Prophets, and dominance and help over my enemies. O Allah, I present my needs before You, even though my intellect is deficient and my actions are weak and feeble. I am in need of Your mercy, so I ask only from You. O Decider of affairs, O Healer of hearts (from diseases like ostentation), just as You prevent the seas from merging with each other, grant me protection from the punishment of Hellfire. Protect me from praying for destruction, and save me from the trial of the grave. O Allah, whatever good my intellect could not reach, my actions were too weak for, and my intention and resolve could not attain, and You have promised to grant it to any of Your servants, or any good that You are to bestow upon any of Your creation, I too desire and long for it, and I ask You for it, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, make us rightly guided, guides for others, not astray nor leading others astray. Make us a source of war for Your enemies and a source of peace and safety for Your friends. Let us love people for Your love, and have enmity with Your enemies due to Your enmity. O Allah, this is my supplication, so accept and approve it. This is my striving, and upon You is my reliance. And there is no power to do good or strength to avoid evil except with Allah’s help and support. O Allah, Possessor of the firm rope (religion) and the straight and correct matter, I ask You for safety on the Day of Punishment, and Paradise on the Day of Eternity, with those who are close to their Lord, those who bow and prostrate frequently, and those who fulfill their promises. Indeed, You are Most Merciful and Loving, and You do whatever You will. Glorified is the One who has wrapped Himself in the robe of honor and made it exclusive for Himself. Glorified is the One who has donned the garment of greatness and majesty and is honored by it. Glorified is the One for whom no one else is worthy of glorification. Glorified is the One who has counted everything and knows it. Glorified is the One full of bounty and favor. Glorified is the One full of power and generosity. O Allah, place light in my heart, light in my grave, light in my ears, light in my eyes, light in my hair, light in my skin, light in my flesh, light in my blood, light in my bones, light before me, light behind me, light on my right, light on my left, light above me, and light beneath me. O Allah, increase my light, grant me light, and create for me light upon light.”
