Hadith 1062
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed tashahhud in the two prostrations of forgetfulness (sujood as-sahw) and then gave salam. These are the words of the hadith of Abu Hatim. He narrated this to us in Basra. When he narrated this hadith a second time in Baghdad, he mentioned these words: Sayyiduna (Imran) said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led them in prayer, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forgot. After giving salam and speaking, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness. Whereas Muhammad bin Yahya narrated it in this way: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led them in prayer, and he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forgot in his prayer, so he performed two prostrations, then performed tashahhud, then gave salam. Saeed bin Muhammad, in his narration, said that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) led them in prayer, then performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness, then sat for tashahhud, and then gave salam. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: I have not mentioned the wording of anyone’s narration except that of Abbas bin Yazid.
