Hadith 1058
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed two prostrations after concluding the prayer with salam and after having spoken.

Hadith 1059
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed two prostrations of forgetfulness after having spoken. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says: If by the statement of Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the prostrations of forgetfulness after speaking, it is meant the conversation that took place when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had led five units (rak‘ahs) in the Zuhr prayer, and a man said to him, “Has there been an addition in the prayer?” So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “What is that (addition)?” Then this conversation of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is similar in meaning to the conversation mentioned in the incident of Dhul-Yadayn (i.e., the Prophet was investigating the actual situation). And if Sayyiduna Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) means the conversation that is mentioned in another narration, when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the prayer and either added to it or reduced from it, and it was said to him, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Indeed, I am also a human being; I forget just as you forget,” then regarding these words, the narrators differ as to when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this conversation. Abu Bakr Nahshali narrates from his chain from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this conversation before performing the two prostrations of forgetfulness. Whereas Mansur bin Mu’tamir and Hasan bin Ubaidullah both narrate from their chain from Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this conversation after performing the two prostrations of forgetfulness. Therefore, from any narration for which there is no opposing narration, it is not established that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this conversation in a state where he was fully aware and remembered that two prostrations of forgetfulness were obligatory upon him. Whereas it is established that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), after saying the salam, spoke out of forgetfulness, in a state where he did not know that he had forgotten and that two prostrations of forgetfulness were obligatory upon him. Then, after having spoken out of forgetfulness, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness.
