(417) بَابُ الصَّلَاةِ عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ
417 Chapter: Praying on a Small Prayer Mat (Khumrah).
Hadith 1007
نَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا بُنْدَارٌ ، نَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَدَّادِ بْنِ الْهَادِ ، عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ " . هَذَا حَدِيثُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ . وَقَالَ يُوسُفُ : " يُصَلِّي عَلَى خُمْرَةٍ لَهُ قَدْ بُسِطَتْ فِي مَسْجِدِهِ ، وَأَنَا نَائِمَةٌ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ ، فَإِذَا سَجَدَ أَصَابَ ثَوْبُهُ ثَوْبِي ، وَأَنَا حَائِضٌ "
The noble wife of the Prophet, Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to lead prayer on a small mat. This is the narration of Sa‘id bin ‘Abdur-Rahman, and the wording of the narration of Yusuf is as follows: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to pray on his small mat which had been spread out in his prayer place, while I would be lying beside him. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) would prostrate, his clothes would touch my clothes even though I was in a state of menstruation.
Hadith 1008
نَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " كَانَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْخُمْرَةِ "
It is narrated from Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to pray on a small mat.
