(376) بَابُ فَرْضِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي السَّفَرِ مِنْ عَدَدِ الرَّكَعَاتِ
376 Chapter: The Obligation of Prayer While Traveling and the Number of Units.
Hadith Q943
بِذِكْرِ خَبَرٍ لَفْظُهُ لَفْظٌ عَامٌّ مُرَادُهُ خَاصٌّ
Mention of such a hadith in this regard whose words are general but whose meaning is specific
Hadith 943
نَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الْعَقَدِيُّ ، نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرِ بْنِ الأَخْنَسِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " فَرَضَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْحَضَرِ أَرْبَعًا ، وَفِي السَّفَرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَفِي الْخَوْفِ رَكْعَةً "
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that Allah Almighty has made obligatory, through the blessed tongue of your noble Prophet (peace be upon him), four rak‘ahs of prayer in residence, two rak‘ahs in travel, and one prayer in a state of fear.
