Hadith 852
Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this supplication in his prayer, « اللّٰهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ، اللهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْمَأْثَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ » "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Dajjal, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from falling into sin and from being burdened by debt." Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) says that someone said, "O Messenger of Allah, how often you seek refuge from debt!" So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied, "Indeed, when a man becomes indebted, he speaks and lies, and he makes a promise and breaks it."
