جماع أبواب الأذان والإقامةChapters on Adhan and Iqamah
(229) بَابُ النَّظَرِ إِلَى السَّبَّابَةِ عِنْدَ الْإِشَارَةِ بِهَا فِي التَّشَهُّدِ.
229 Chapter: Looking at the Index Finger when Pointing in Tashahhud.
Hadith 718
نا بُنْدَارٌ ، نا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، نا ابْنُ عَجْلانَ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ وَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُسْرَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُسْرَى ، وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى فَخِذِهِ الْيُمْنَى ، وَأَشَارَ بِأُصْبُعِهِ السَّبَّابَةِ ، لا يُجَاوِزُ بَصَرُهُ إِشَارَتَهُ "
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with them both) that when the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sat in Tashahhud, he would place his left hand on his left thigh and his right hand on his right thigh, and he would gesture with his index finger. The gaze of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not go beyond his gesture.
