Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I prayed with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). When he entered the prayer, he said « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ » and raised his hands. And when he intended to bow (ruku‘), he raised his hands, and when he raised his head from ruku‘, he raised his hands. In prostration, he placed both his hands (on the ground) and kept his arms away from his sides, and spread his left thigh, and pointed with his index finger, that is, while sitting in Tashahhud. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that his statement "he spread his left thigh" means that he spread his left thigh for his right thigh. My father spread his left thigh so that he could place his right thigh over his left thigh. As is in the narration of Adam bin Abi Iyas, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his right thigh over his left thigh.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Wa’il bin Hujr al-Hadrami (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ », he raised both his hands, and when he bowed (ruku‘), and when he raised his head from ruku‘ (he performed the raising of the hands), and when he prostrated, he said: “Like this,” and he distanced his two hands from his armpits, and placed his right thigh over his left thigh, and said: “Place (them) like this.” Wahb (the narrator) raised his index finger and made a knot with the middle finger. Muhammad bin Yahya also pointed with the index finger, made a circle with the middle finger and thumb, and made a knot with the middle finger.
Hadith 699
It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to sit for Tashahhud in every two rak'ahs, and he (peace be upon him) would spread his right leg under his left leg.
