(196) بَابُ وَضْعِ الْكَفَّيْنِ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ وَرَفْعِ الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ فِي السُّجُودِ.
Chapter 196: Placing the palms on the ground and raising the elbows in prostration
Hadith 656
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي صَفْوَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِيَادِ بْنِ لَقِيطٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا سَجَدْتَ فَضَعْ كَفَّيْكَ ، وَارْفَعْ مِرْفَقَيْكَ "
Sayyiduna Bara’ bin ‘Azib (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “When you perform prostration, place your palms (on the ground) and raise your elbows.”
Hadith 657
نا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ ، وَعُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، قَالا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ابْنِ أَخِي يَزِيدَ بْنِ الأَصَمِّ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ ، عَنْ خَالَتِهِ مَيْمُونَةَ ، قَالَتْ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " إِذَا سَجَدَ ، لَوْ أَنَّ بَهْمَةً أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَمُرَّ مِنْ تَحْتِ يَدِهِ مَرَّتْ " . وَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَصَمِّ ، وَقَالَ : إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ " إِذَا سَجَدَ جَافَى يَدَيْهِ ، حَتَّى لَوْ أَنَّ بَهْمَةً أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَمُرَّ تَحْتَهَا مَرَّتْ "
Sayyidah Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prostration, if a kid goat wanted to pass under his arms, it could pass. In the narration of Hazrat Ubaidullah bin Abdullah bin Al-Asam, these words are mentioned: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed prostration, he would keep both his arms away from his sides to such an extent that if a kid goat wanted to pass underneath them, it could pass.
Hadith 658
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، نا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَهْدِيٍّ ، نا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلا وَقَدْ وُكِّلَ بِهِ قَرِينُهُ مِنَ الْجِنِّ ، وَقَرِينُهُ مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ " ، قَالُوا : وَإِيَّاكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " وَإِيَّايَ وَلَكِنَّ اللَّهَ أَعَانَنِي عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى أَسْلَمَ ، فَلا يَأْمُرُنِي إِلا بِخَيْرٍ "
Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "For each one of you, a jinn companion and an angel companion have been appointed." The Companions asked, "O Messenger of Allah, has one been appointed with you as well?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "One has been appointed with me as well, but Allah Almighty has helped me against him, so he has become obedient and submissive, and he only advises me towards good and righteousness."
