Hadith 654
The noble wife of the Prophet, Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), narrates that (one night) I did not find the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) present while he was with me on my bed. (When I searched for him,) I found him in the state of prostration; he had joined his heels together firmly and had directed the tips of his toes towards the Qiblah. I heard him supplicating: « أَعُوْذُ بِرِضَاكَ مِنْسَخَطِكَ، وَبِعَفْوِكَ مِنْ عُقُوْبَتِكَ، وبِكَ مِنْكَ، أَثْنٰي عَلَيْكَ، لَا أَبْلُغُ كُلَّ مَا فِيْكَ » "O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your anger and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment. I seek refuge in You from You. I am unable to praise You as You deserve to be praised." Then, when he finished the prayer with salam, he said: "O Aisha, your devil has disturbed you." So she asked, "Does the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) not have a devil?" He replied, "Every human has a devil." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, do you also have a devil?" He said, "Yes, I also have one, but I prayed to Allah Almighty, so he became obedient and submissive."
