Hadith 612
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would begin the prayer, he would say « اللهُ أَكْبَرُ ». (Both of the honorable teachers of the Imam) narrated a part of the hadith and said that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would raise his head from bowing (ruku‘), he would recite this supplication « سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ ، رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الحَمْدُ ، مِلْءَ السَّمواتِ والأرضِ، ومِلْءَ ما شِئتَ مِن شيءٍ بعدُ »: “Allah has heard the one who praised Him. O our Lord, to You belongs all praise, filling the heavens, filling the earth, and filling whatever else You will after that (all praise is Yours).”
Hadith 613
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would say « سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ », he used to recite this supplication: « اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ مِلْءُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمِلْءُ مَا شِئْتَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ بَعْدُ، أَهْلَ الثَّنَاءِ وَالمَجْدِ، أَحَقُّ مَا قَالَ الْعَبْدُ، وَكُلُّنَا لَكَ عَبْدٌ، لَا مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَلَا يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ » "O Allah, O our Lord, all praise and glorification is for You, filling the heavens and filling the earth and filling whatever else You will after that (all praise is for You). You are worthy of praise and greatness. The servant has spoken the truest word, and we are all Your servants. (That is) whatever You grant, none can withhold it, and whatever You withhold, none can grant it, and the wealth of the wealthy will not benefit them against You." (Both) the honorable teachers of the Imam have narrated in the same manner, but Ahmad said: « رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ » (that is, he narrated « اللَّهُمَّ » without the conjunction "wa"). The Imam has narrated the above-mentioned narration from his teacher Muhammad bin Yahya with this chain. In it, there is this additional wording: « وَلَا مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ » "Whatever You withhold, none can grant it."
