Chapter 137: Remembrance and supplication in prostration upon reciting a verse of prostration

4 hadith
Hadith 562
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that a man came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Last night I saw in a dream as if I was praying behind a tree. I saw as if I recited a verse of prostration, so I performed prostration. I saw the tree also prostrating because of my prostration. I heard it supplicating in the state of prostration « اَللّٰھُمَّ اَکْتُبْ لِیْ بِھَا عِنْدَکَ اَجْرًا وَّضَعْ عَنِّیْ بِھَا وِزْرًا وَّاجْعَلْھَا لِیْ عِنْدَکَ ذُخْرًا وَّتَقَبَّلْھَا مِنِّیْ کَمَا تَقَبَّلْتَھَا مِنْ عَبْدِکَ دَاوٗدَ » 'O Allah, record for me with You a reward for this prostration, store it for me with You, forgive me my sins because of it, and accept it from me as You accepted it from Your servant Dawud (peace be upon him).'"

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that he saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) recite a verse of prostration and then perform prostration. He heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting in prostration the same supplication that the man had mentioned the tree made.

Hazrat Muhammad bin Zaid bin Khunais narrates that Hasan bin Muhammad bin Ubaidullah bin Abi Yazid led us in prayer in Masjid al-Haram during the month of Ramadan. When he recited a verse of prostration, he would perform sajdah and prolong the prostration. He was asked about this, and he replied, Ibn Jurayj narrated to me that his grandfather, Ubaidullah bin Abi Yazid, narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both). Then he mentioned a similar narration. And he said, « واحطط عني بها وزرا » "(O Allah) forgive my sins in exchange for this prostration," and these words were not narrated: "Accept from me as You accepted from Your servant Dawud." Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I narrated from Abu'l-Aliyah from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to recite this supplication in the prostration of the Qur'an at night « سَجَدَ وَجْهِيَ لِلَّذِيْ خَلَقَهُ وَشَقَّ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ بِحَوْلِهِ وَقُوَّتِهِ » "My face has prostrated to the One Who created it and fashioned its hearing and sight with His perfect power and strength." I omitted its dictation because there is a specific person between Khalid al-Khadda and Abu'l-Aliyah, whom Abdulwahhab bin Abdulmajid and Khalid bin Abdullah al-Wasiti have omitted. (Therefore, its chain is disconnected.)

Hadith 564
The Imam narrates from his esteemed teacher, Bandaar, from Abu’l-‘Aaliyah, from Sayyidah ‘A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). The narrator, Abu Bishr, did not mention the words “at night,” and he added that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite this supplication three times.

Hadith 565
The Imam, through his respected teacher, Yaqub bin Ibrahim Duraqi, narrates from Abu’l-‘Aliyah a narration from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) similar to the narration of Bundar mentioned above. The difference is that in this narration, the Imam states that she used to recite this supplication several times in prostration. Imam Abu Bakr (may Allah have mercy on him) says that I have narrated this narration (in which there is an intermediary between Khalid Hadhdha’ and Abu’l-‘Aliyah) at this time out of fear that some students may become confused by the narration of Thaqafi and Khalid bin Abdullah, and may begin to consider the narration of Abdul Wahhab and Khalid bin Abdullah as authentic (even though it is disconnected).
